How We Met.....

In May 2005 we began a seach for a short-term mission trip to India. After much searching we came across a website that mentioned the Love God Home and Praise Yahweh Ministries. We contacted Pastor Joshua ("Nisar") Immanuel to learn more about the Love God Home. As it turned out the Love God Home had been disbanded before we contacted him. We kept in touch with Pastor Immanuel for about a year and helped with some of the needs of his ministry. After praying about our purpose in India, we told Pastor Immanuel that we wanted to focus our efforts on an orphanage.

In June 2006 the Love God Home was started up again. Because of the our limited resources at the time we could only afford to rent a flat (apartment) in a housing society outside of the town of Ambarnath, Maharashtra, India. We had originally intended to care for only three children. This number quickly doubled to six however and we trusted the Lord to provide us with the funds for the six, which He did. There were three girls and three boys living in the Love God Home by August 2006.

Before we could legally organize the India Orphans Fund and take the need to the public we had to inspect the Love God Home in person. Hence we flew from Seattle, Washington (by way of Taipei, Taiwan and Bangkok, Thailand) to Mumbai (Bombay), India in January 2007. We spent 11 days staying by night at a hotel in Ulhasnagar and commuting by day to the orphanage site. We quickly became convinced of the authenticity of the orphanage and the great need for it in the community.

Nothing we had read in books or on websites could prepare us for what we actually experienced in India. We saw beggars sitting in the road, whole families camping on sidewalks, and poverty beyond comprehension in the U.S. In the midst of all this we also saw the great beauty of the people of India. Nowhere else have we ever experienced such genuine humility and hospitality. The longer we stayed in India the more we became convinced that our purpose was to raise funds for this great work.

While the need in India appears overwhelming we feel confident that we are able to change the lives of a few, and those few will in turn change the lives of many more. The money donated to this ministry purchases all of the physical needs of (at this time) seven children. The spiritual and emotional needs of the children are provided for by Pastor Immanuel and the orphanage staff. As the Lord provides we will do our best to assist the fatherless children of India. The Lord has opened a door in India.
